Question Description
Choose ONLY one Option to answer. Option 1- This week, we covered a wide range of catastrophic events that defined the late 19th and first half of the 20th century- the decline of the British Empire, division in Europe, and two world wars. Let’s focus on one particular event often seen as a result of World War I and a defining factor of World War II- the Depression. Research a program created due to the Great Depression. You may choose a program in the U.S. created as part of the New Deal (you may not choose the entire New Deal- just one program) or one in another country such as the U.K. Discuss how this program was meant to create relief from the Depression. Next, discuss if this program or a similar one still exists. If so, how does it work to prevent another Great Depression? (Again, keep in mind the goal of tying in what we’ve covered with the present day). Option 2- Choose one to review Murfett, Malcolm. 2016. “The Sinking of JAPAN.” History Today 66, no. 12: 20-27.
