Competence Utilizing Technology And Innovation In Healthcare

Nursing informaticists operate as developers of policies, communication, and information technologies. They define healthcare policies to advance the public’s health. They develop research methodologies to disseminate new and relevant knowledge into practice. In my community, nursing informatics can be used healthcare facilities, including hospitals, to combine the clinical skills from the workforce with the technical expertise to develop systems that can improve the quality of the patients’ care. The nursing informatics organizations that will provide more information to the anticipated attendees are the American Health Information Management Association(AHIMA) and the American Medical Informatics Association(AMIA).

The three main building blocks of nursing informatics are information science, computer science, and nursing science. The combination of these building blocks provides nurses with the knowledge base of nursing informatics. Through the detailed knowledge in computer science, the expanded roles and technology are integrated by the nurses into the domain of nursing informatics. The defining characteristics of nursing informatics include the information and knowledge generated via the nursing practices (Collins et al. 2017). The defining attributes of nursing informatics leaders comprise of the forging, tinkering, and envisioning categories.

As an informaticist must have a degree certificate in nursing and nursing informatics. Alternatively, a nurse must have completed at least two thousand hours of practice as informatics nurses. One must have registered nursing licensing. Informatics is redefining the face of healthcare. In nursing, informatics is being applied in addressing the challenges, thus impacting how nurses function in inpatient care. It facilitates the tracking of staff, workflow, and communication in healthcare facilities. It improves the coordination of the information, thus allowing nurses to improve outcomes.

Deliverable 6: Patients at the core of technology innovation Improvement Plan

First, Mabel’s hospital stay is a painful experience resulting from ignorant medical attendants and technological failures. The pharmacy was closed the whole night, and her medical prescriptions could not be availed. The shut does of the computer system delayed the delivery of her bill. It had to be mailed since the computer system was still under maintenance. Mabel could not access the essential discharge paperwork and the medical records, which were to aid in her medications.

Some innovative technologies can be used to improve healthcare services and patient’s experience in hospitals. The adoption of a certified electronic health record(EHR) that will ensure that patients have readily available and easily accessible personal health records and also personal appointment records (Sadiku & Musa 2019). The impacts of this EHR can be assessed through the feedback of every patient admitted to the health facility. The use of the Mobile App Health Technology. The wearable sector can facilitate the use of mobile technologies to access and store data via the use of different mobile applications.

From the studied scenario, the use of mobile app technology would have helped Mabel to access her medical information directly through her phone. The use of a certified electronic health record would have eased access to personal health records and help Mabel to get a medical appointment at the right time.

Deliverable 7: Reflecting on Emergency Healthcare Technology and Innovation

Interview Questions

I would recommend the digital patient flow tracker to be used in the oncology unit. I prefer the technology since it improves discharge planning by sending auto alert messages to members of the care team upon updating of informatio

I propose a patient confidentiality policy for the ethical use of the clinical information system. The information about the patient’s medical conditions and results is considered private, and their confidentiality should not be violated.

The use of mobile technology in the healthcare systems to redesign discharge procedures in the cardiology unit. Besides, the technology can be used to follow up with the patient at home by offering health-related information and education. The mobile technology is easy to use and has a higher response rate as well as convenience.

Adopting an access control system to secure the Protected Health Information(PHI). Access control is verified and hard to compromise technique to that regulates individuals who can view or use the resources in a computing environment. By protecting the information, patient safety will be guaranteed
