Social networking has grown in importance in both society and the field of medicine. It is crucial for professionals to establish a network of other professionals with whom they may work together, exchange knowledge, and be ready for new jobs.
My Professional and Academic Network
To lay the groundwork for my network, I have identified and secured the participation of the following academic (at least two) and professional (at least two) people and groups. This network will assist me in defining my success vision and in directing me both now and in the future.

My first pick for my network would be Comprehensive Behavioral Health Associates’ medical director, Dr. Kassandra Kornbau. She is certified in psychiatric nursing and holds a Doctor of Nursing degree in family practice. How they will help me succeed in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse, as well as the reasons I chose them: Dr. Kornbau has set an example for me by making an effort to develop into a career that values her patients, is respectful, and puts out significant effort to establish a patient-centered practice. The Walden University writing center is my first academic resource. I am studying how to write academic papers as I finish my degree at Walden University because I will need them when I start practicing. Being able to write well is crucial for nurses. Especially when drafting care plans or charting. Also, having good writing skills might aid in treating patients more effectively. The writing center includes a lot of tools, including videos to view in APA format so that I can develop my talents there. A student can also set up a meeting with a tutor who can assist with organizing thoughts for a paper, reviewing a paper and providing feedback, or providing correction assistance. The nursing master’s degree is from January through March 2021. The second academic resource I use is my Facebook profile. This group is a social network for students in the Master of science group at Walden University and is made up of those who enrolled between January and March of 2021. Facebook is being used by both younger and older generations to foster conversations on MSN programs, including the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program. A student can make friends and develop a support system using this Facebook group, especially when they are having difficulties. The students in this group, who come from different parts of the world, have good energy.

I think it is important for nurses to be up to date on new medical procedures, drugs, and regulations.

The Medical Library Association’s Nursing and Allied Health Portal is a second source for professionals (MLA, 2021). This website includes a ton of links for nurses, such as websites, journals, anatomy resources, webinars, peer reviews, a global connection, and a resource section for strong tools for poorly written papers and for style and plagiarism. Being an older adult returning to school and a method to stay current on medical facts relevant to nursing, this is a really helpful resource. It is also a means of collaborating with other experts in a specific sector, such as mental health.

The American Psychiatric Nurses Association provides a third source of information for professionals. This affiliation relates to my area of expertise. As there are many members, the association is also on Facebook, which is networking. Popular magazines. These links should take one to the best peer-reviewed publications. Elsevier Health, a database of medical journals, books, and articles, is the other resource I aim to use. Elsevier Health’s focus on the medical industry is its strongest feature, making it relevant and ideal for nursing students. Several research publications about medicine and nursing are found when searching this database. Also, I discovered SCIRUS to be the best database for peer-reviewed publications and articles. SCIRUS is a search index tool for scholarly materials. So I am going to use this tool in my academic attempts in the future.
