Healthcare Policy and Financial Management
The healthcare sector is one of the most critical institutions in the United States. To ensure that the citizens are being subjected to the most effective healthcare services, the government needs to intervene and play its part appropriately. The operation of the healthcare facilities is highly dependent on good politics (Cahill et al., 2022). There are a lot of healthcare issues that mirror the political point of view of either the democrat or the republican political party. Among the political issues linked to the healthcare sector are drug pricing, surprise billing, telehealth waiver, and health equity. It is vital to have an understanding of health equity as a critical political issue revolving around health care which is fully supported by the Democrats.
The Democrats under the administration of President Joe Biden came up with the issue of health equity as a critical policy affecting healthcare in 2022. The administration of President Biden has placed extreme dedication and focus on the subject of health equity. The moment President Biden took power from President Trump, he proceeded with signing the health equity executive order. Based on existing reports, it is deemed that many health equity approaches will be realized in 2022 (Richter & Hampton LLP, 2022). The president made an executive order directed toward advancing racial equity and aiding the disadvantaged groups via the federal government the moment he was inaugurated.
From my point of view, the healthcare issue of equity was a significant move by the Democrats. It is because the policy has played and will carry on playing an essential role in promoting healthcare equity together with racial justice in the entire U.S. The reformation of healthcare inequalities requires the government to take a panoramic view of contributing factors like poverty, violence, genetics, environmental conditions and many others. The policy shall help do away with or eliminate the impact of the social determinants of health. Besides, the health equity policy has helped minimize the systematic barriers that limit the ability of individuals to access healthcare (Maddox & James, 2021). There are many inequalities in the United States based on race; therefore, the policy that the democrats support will help minimize the racial bias.
The health equity action plan has focused on identifying the various barriers that limit equitable access to healthcare services. Besides, the action plan has identified the different approaches that can be relied on to eliminate all the obstacles that have been mentioned within healthcare. One barrier that has been placed under the Action Plan is Non- discrimination in Health and Human Services. The policy ensures the protection of civil rights and language access. The goal is to increase access to Medicaid and Medicare coupled with federally assisted programs for all the patients within the United States (Richter & Hampton LLP, 2022). By doing this, thousands of citizens that did not have access to healthcare and health insurance will now be viable.
Health and Human Services are equally important because it focuses on identifying hindrances for the disadvantaged communities and their people at the time of making applications for contracting chances. Some of the barriers directed towards being eliminated by the action plan include short timelines, the absence of transparency, and limited access to capital to create business development capabilities. Under the Action Plan, the issue shall be dealt with by offering training and ensuring an outreach for minor underserved businesses. Similarly, a highly centralized procurement prediction system shall be created to provide smooth access to the various opportunities.
The Action Plan directed towards promoting healthcare equity has equally stated that there is limited diversity when it comes to applying grants and those awarded. It has been suggested that to ensure equity, and there will be the provision of technical aid to the individuals who have made applications. Besides, it has been proposed that the information be available to the applicants in a much clearer language. To ensure enough data and proper equity assessment capacity to single out and deal with inequities, it has been proposed that an equity technical assistance team shall be deployed to help in equity assessment and addressing the possible loopholes.
Similarly, the health equity issue that the democrats have suggested is essential because it has addressed maternal health issues. Maternal health is a crucial aspect of the healthcare sector. Evidence suggests that Native Americans, African Americans, and various minority women face extreme maternal death rates. The objective of the policy based on the action plan is to broaden postpartum care through Medicaid and Chip (Richter & Hampton LLP, 2022). Similarly, it has been suggested that various mechanisms be deployed to ensure improved health care. All the states within the United States have been urged to adopt the Action Plan that was proposed under the policy to ensure that there is the realization of better health for the people regardless of the group they belong to.
In conclusion, I suppose that the health equity policy issue is an important step that shall help ensure that all individuals are accorded an opportunity to access better care and participate in programs that are directed towards promoting health care. Through these political steps, healthcare inequalities and barriers that limit access to care shall be eliminated. There is a lot that has been done and a lot that is still going on to make sure that everything is working. Collaborating with various healthcare facilities, insurers, providers, companies, researchers, people facing health inequalities, and other stakeholders promotes health equity (Maddox & James, 2021). It is my hope that we continue to work together as a nation to eradicate health disparities and promote health impartiality amongst all Americans for a healthier future and progressive healthcare system.
