A global challenge is a matter of public concern worldwide. Current global challenges are affecting people worldwide and are massive and urgent. Climate change is one of the significant challenges we face, the shifting weather patterns that put food production at risk, and the rising sea levels that increase flooding. Freshwater maintains human life and is vital for human health. There is enough fresh water for everyone worldwide. Still, millions of people don’t have access due to pollution, bad economics, and poor infrastructure. Gender equality, females represent half of the world’s population. However, there is work to do to reach full equality of rights and opportunities between males and females since it is essential to achieve peace.

People are starting to become proactive in the fight against global challenges. Progress is being made, but the progress has been slow. We need leaders worldwide to pull together and move us to a bright and strong future. The best leader is those who spend their time serving others to empower them (VanBenschoten, 2020). Servant leadership is a style that centers on serving and giving to the community and is about the leader being a servant first (Greenleaf). Servant leaders ensure the growth, development, and well-being of people and the community. Servant leaders serve rather than lead.

Servant leadership empowers society to become leaders in their community. Once servant leadership is internalized and practiced, the fruits of successful servant leadership will be visible in all aspects of society (Athal, 2021). When a leader serves and leads, the community will naturally follow. To promote diversity and globalization, servant leadership must develop characteristics to create more leader servants that will continue to do the same. It will take time and effort, but if we start to serve others, we will have a better future. Servant leaders need to listen before they speak. They have empathy since the servant leaders face people’s problems and issues and try to resolve them. Servant leaders heal the people around to create a healthy and peaceful environment. They are aware of themselves and their people. A servant leader can persuade someone with actions that reveal their true nature (VanBenschoten, 2020)—creating a vision and goal to lead the people. To achieve foresight, servant leaders must rely on data, information, and experiences to communicate goals. Stewardship is critical since it focuses on trusting in others. They are committed to the growth and development of the people so that eventually, they will grow up as a leader. Servant leaders need to start building and empowering communities.

Developing a servant leader’s characteristics involves putting others’ needs ahead of your own. It takes time to practice and strengthen them; you must commit to growth and invest in developing those skills (VanBenschoten, 2020).
