Criteria of Effective Teams

Criteria of Effective Teams

Criteria of Effective Teams

High levels of task performance, member satisfaction, and long-term viability are the three characteristics of effective teams, according to our textbook (Uhl-bien et al., 2021). Task performance is determined by task Performance refers to how well a person performs on a specific task. Response time or accuracy are two ways to gauge task performance. It also outlines a person’s primary duties and roles while working on a certain activity. How content team members are with their work and how they feel about certain areas of their occupations, such as the workplace culture, management, and everyday tasks they accomplish, may be seen by looking at member satisfaction. The future viability of successful teams comes last. The ability of a team to grow sustainably and achieve success in the future is known as team viability. The team members’ pleasure and desire to continue being team members are expanded upon and captured by it (Uhl-Bien et al., 2021). Establishing an efficient team with sound procedures and objectives is crucial for enterprises and organizations; the team must be shaped, formed, and grown through the following five stages. The formation phase is the first and includes a time of orientation and acclimatization. During this phase, there is much uncertainty, and people seek authority and leadership.

As they get to know one another and ask questions, team members also learn what is expected of them. The second stage is the storming stage, the hardest and most important. As a result of strong personalities or areas where not all team members fully support and concur, subgroups and cliques may form around this stage as team members may differ on the team’s aims. Team members must work together to overcome challenges, accept individual differences, and resolve disagreements on the team’s tasks and objectives to succeed and go through this stage. The teams in the norming stage are third. Most teams form around the group’s leader or leaders at this stage, and a sense of team cohesiveness develops. As members start to work together and concentrate on the team’s objectives, team performance improves at this stage. The team is mature, well-organized, and works well during the performing stage, where the group’s emphasis is well-established. The adjourning stage is the fifth. Most of the team’s objectives have been reached and completed in the meeting.

The focus is on completing outstanding duties and recording the effort and output of the team or group you worked for or with.
