How Various Leadership Theories Support Innovation and Entrepreneurial Spirit within Organizations
As we all know, leadership motivates people to put in much effort to complete crucial tasks. Leading, planning, controlling, and organizing are used to achieve this. Every leader will have their qualities, mannerisms, and leadership styles. Contingency leadership methods, including Fiedler’s contingency model, the Hersey-Blanchard situational model, House’s path-goal theory, the leader-member exchange theory, and the Vroom-Jago leader-participation model, are only a few of the leadership ideas covered in the textbook. Approaches to contingent leadership emphasize that only some leadership styles are always the most effective. The finest style effectively satisfies the requirements of each particular circumstance (Uhl-Bien et al., 2021). According to the circumstance, the first step in effective leadership is to adapt your leadership style. Here, it is important to adapt to the workplace, and managers must demonstrate that they can lead in any situation. Your supporters will trust you more, and employees will take your lead.
One can foster innovation and entrepreneurial spirit by demonstrating creativity and offering excellent entrepreneurial leadership. Entrepreneurial leadership is where new concepts, inventions, and creativity come from. People in organizations engage in it when they encounter disruptive forces or spot new possibilities and promote creative solutions to them (Uhl-Bien et al., 2021). Leaders who can accommodate their leadership styles using contingency theories can provide the distinctive leadership needed for shifting work settings. However, this is only possible if a leader can motivate team members to follow them and manage efficiently. People choose to participate in the leadership process through followership. It shows whether a person is able or willing to follow a leader (Uhl-Bien et al., 2021). People follow their lead only when they exhibit attributes others wish to emulate. These, in my opinion, include authenticity, high morals, emotional intelligence, and charisma. Followers who trust their abilities are willing to go outside the box and put maximum effort into their organizations. They will have leaders who can adapt and deliver the appropriate situational leadership styles. When followers are satisfied with their leadership style, this can lead to prospects for innovation since motivated, enthusiastic, and driven employees are more likely to go above and beyond.
