Student will interview two experienced mid-level or higher (this does not mean a counselor or an advisor) college or university administrators (from the same institution) who still have day-to-day contact with college students, both traditional and nontraditional, and ideally undergraduate and graduate (if using a university). This needs to be somebody who has not just been hired at the institution, but someone who can intelligently/ insightfully answer your open-ended questions. One of the administrators must work with the financial or the business side of the operations (i.e., financial aid office, bursars office, comptroller, institutional advancement, etc.) and one must be from any of these other student affairs divisions: admissions, academic advising, academic support, career development, dean of students office, disability support services, Greek affairs, international student services, judicial affairs, multicultural student services, new-student orientation mentoring programs, registrars office, student activities office, etc..
Student will have a set list (the min. # is 5) of general, open-ended questions, that he or she will ask both administrators, (separately). After conducting the two interviews, either face-to-face or telephonically, student will provide a partial transcript of each (question and then the verbatim responses for each interviewee) followed by discussion section where the student discusses the various responses for both perhaps connecting it with the academic literature. Finally, the student will provide a final analysis section of common concerns or issues raised and cite specific academic references from current professional academic sources e.g., textbooks, articles, etc. A very brief college profile/description (not cut and pasted from the college website) should also be included. Student will submit a signed/dated verification form (see Appendix of Syllabus) for each interview subject as Appendix items to the assignment. (10 Pages)
