Purpose: This Reading Response is intended to prompt students to think critically and thoughtfully about the assigned readings, therefore, you will articulate your intellectual impressions of the assigned chapters/articles–Schor, introduction and chapters, 1, 2, 3; and Prewitt, preface and chapters 1 and 2.
Substantive Requirements: The questions you must address in your responses are few, however, they require direct answers as well as concise explication: 1) How do the assigned readings relate to the themes and issues of the topics covered? Explain. 2) What claims do the authors make? 3) Do the readings clarify or confound your understanding of the census/es and the consequences of classification regarding identity and community? Explain.
Mechanical Requirements: Each paper must be typed and a minimum of three full pages, maximum four pages.
